Phyllis (Phyllis Potter, friend of Ruth Carvill-s who lived in London) Ruth (Ruth Martin Carvill Crossle) E. Carvill (Elizabeth Martin Carvill, mother of Ruth Martin Carvill Crossle) Mr. Carvill (John Carvill) The husband (Philip Crossle, husband of Ruth) Dundalk Letter to Phyllis from Elizabeth Carvill to let her know that her husband had been to see Ruth in Dundalk and advising Phyllis that further communication with Ruth "is quite useless.'   Mr. Carvill had seen both Ruth and her husband.   In his convo with "the husband alone & when his duty was pointed out to him, he whined and said what could he do. And when Mr. Carvill suggested the propriety of his taking strong measures he said he would NOT LIKE to insult the stranger and break up his (the husband-s) happy home.'     Elizabeth indicates that she appreciates Phyllis- "kindly part' and invites her to come see them if ever she should come to Ireland.   She expresses gratitude for her help in the matter.   She also lets Phyllis know that she is not preventing Phyllis from doing anything further.
