Description
Letter from John Carvill to his daughter Ruth Martin Carvill Crossle (Mrs. Philip Crossle) from Downshire Road, Newry. Her address is 23 Kildare St, Dublin. "Dear Ruth, Referring to our conversation on 14th inst. I write to definitely say that in case you go to Canada with your husband now or follow him there at an early date say within two months, I will be prepared to contribute thirty pounds towards the cost of your journey out and to make you an allowance for twelve months of ten pounds per month you residing with him there during the same time --- I remain Your Father." There is no evidence in any research into the Crossle family that Philip ever went to Canada. Philip Crossle filed for divorce for adultery in Ireland in Jan 1918 and it was finalized by the courts in Jan 1920.
