left page: watercolor by Ruth Martin Carvill entitled "'My Programme' Journal entry, 2 pages: Journal entry about Ruth attending an afternoon dance at the Gartlans in Newry. She took the train (from Carlingford) to Newry, was met by her family gardener, picked roses for the hosts from her own Newry garden, and helped decorate for the dance in the drawing room. The first guest was "Noel' (female). Ruth danced every dance - mostly waltzes - from 4 until 8. Mentioned are Eveleen, Gerald, Irene, & Mrs. Gartlan who mended a broken vase. It was very late when she and the others were sent to bed.
