Description
Journal entry from Ruth Martin Carvill about her time at home for the holidays. This entry details that she passed the day darning her socks, climbing up the mountain with her mother (Elizabeth Martin Carvill) to do a bog painting that she felt was awful, and an after dinner adventure with her mother & father (John Carvill), to Omeath to see a Norwegian ship that had come from Canada with timber for her father. She recalls a tragic drowning 3 weeks previously of a male passenger (Mr. Michel) who fell off the "Pilot', a daily steamer. Left page: watercolor of "Father-s ship coming in', by Ruth Martin Carvill.
