Mother and I were busy all morning and so was everybody, laying out cakes, making them, unpacking them, arranging flowers, dusting rooms and so forth. After a very hurried lunch we all went to get ready and the people seemed to come before we were half ready. We had about 44 or 50 people altogether. We played rounders opposite the house and it began to team rain and nobody stopped, and it got heavier and heavier, and still nobody stopped and everybody was too dignified to give in
