Description
Ruth Martin Carvill's essay entitled "Fields in Winter" where she vividly describes the February newly ploughed fields she sees from her window. She imagines herself in the clouds looking down on the field, the pine trees forming a forest temple, and the grimy towns while watching the ploughman driving his horses along the field. She also envisions chattering geese, the sea and cormorant birds, as well as a shawl clad woman bringing the ploughman his supper as the sun sets.
