Description
Ruth Martin Carvill's essay "Description of an Old Woman' about a walk up the hill and into a cottage uninvited where she found an old wrinkled woman in bed and a girl at a spinning wheel. When confronted about the invasion, she fled. Last page also contains spelling words. Illustrations by Ruth Martin Carvill: 1st page - watercolor of "the Girl' (dressed like a Puritan). 3rd page - watercolor of "The girl thorough the doorway' (girl at spinning wheel) 5th page - sketch of the old woman. 7th page - unfinished pencil sketch of a clock.
