Description
This arises from the failure of the global business and the bankruptcy of PGH Carvill. It is designed to keep Carvill Bros of Newry as a separate concern which has made an arrangement with its creditors to settle at 18 shillings in the £stg. The evidence appears later in 1893 when John Carvill settles the balances with the creditors. There is undercurrent relating to the misappropriation of Fanny Carvill's wedding settlement in the form a sailing ship which her husband uses for collateral without her agreement. The agreement being proposed in this memo connect to the letter from Tom Carvill in Singapore seeking £100 from the funds being held in trust by this agreement. MHC - (Margaret Hamilton Carvill - widow of Francis Carvill) P Cronin - (The accountant/secretary of the firm of Carvill Bros) FMC - (Fanny M Carvill - wife of PGH Carvill) PGC - (Patrick George Hamilton Carvill) JC - (John Carvill)
