  • Description

This letter is the beginning of a few letters from John Carvill to a Mr. Thomas C Macardle, Esq, Dundalk.   In later letters it is clearer that the subject of this "private" letter is the state of affairs of the Carvill's daughter, Ruth Martin Carvill Crossle, who was having an affair.   [Her husband, Philip Crossle, filed for divorce in Jan 1918 and it was finalized by the courts in Jan 1920.] Later letters indicate that Philip Crossle was intending at that point to move to Canada [that did not happen.] Thomas C Macardle, Dundalk J. Carvill [John Carvill]
