    Letter from John Carvill to his sister-in-law, Nellie Martin (Ellen Dalway Millar, nicknamed Nellie, never-married sister of his wife, Elizabeth) from his home on 17 Downshire Rd, Newry.   He refers to his wife as "Lisa" in this letter.   He had been asked by his wife to advise Nellie on W. Millar's will - (see note below from PRONI.)   William Millar died in 1916, his wife Ellen Millar died in 1901 (same last name) - Ellen was the sister of Nellie & Elizabeth's deceased mother, Millicent Millar Martin.   They had no children. Carvill gives his advice on how to invest the inheritance Nellie received.   PRONI T/734/36,37,38,39: Various court cases of Ellen Millar, executrix of the will of Millicent Jane Fletcher vs her sister Anne Woodside (husband William) and the children of her other sister (Robert, Millicent Jane, Mary Ellen, Ellen Dalway, Gertrude, John, and Elizabeth Martin w/guardian David Martin.) dated 1871 & 1872 for banking stock mentioned in the will. In these court cases we learn that the mother, Millicent Jane Fletcher (maiden name Dalway, 1st husband's name Thomas Millar, 2nd husband's name Philip Fletcher), had an indenture of settlement in contemplation of marriage on 18 Aug 1823 between Thomas Millar and herself. This marriage (Millar/Dalway) had only 3 daughters: Millicent, Anne and Ellen. That Thomas d 1828. Millicent Dalway Millar Fletcher d 7 Sep 1870. Millicent Millar Martin d4 Oct 1858. Robert Martin her husband d 9 Oct 1858. David Martin is the guardian of the children. Anne Woodside m William in 1858. Solicitor for the Martin defendants is RR Todd, #14 Westmoreland Street, Dublin by 1872 listed as R. Ross Todd & Son, Solicitors, same address. These documents also have the will for Millicent Fletcher attached which states that she used to live at Belmont, Co. Antrim - nearer her death at 3 Horbury Gardens, Nottinghill, Co. Middlesex, England. The money in question was given her by Sir William Kirk. The Woodsides live in Philadelphia. Ellen Millar resides with her mother and inherits everything except 2/3rd of some banking stock. Will date 21 Mar 1864. Ellen m William Millar (same last name) on 18 Jul 1871. (The Martin children lost the case.)
